St. Peters Rotary Club |
The St. Peters Rotary Club was happy to do their small part this holiday season, helping those less fortunate in the St. Charles County area two different ways. Members of the St. Peters Rotary participated in bell ringing for the Salvation Army during a blistery Friday and Saturday in December in front of the Mid Rivers Schnucks. Money directly raised from bell ringing helps more than 6 million Americans with its providence of food, toys, and clothing during the Christmas season. “We are a small club but want to make a big difference,” stated current President Jeff Pomeroy. “Ringing bells is a great way to involve the community in our mission of helping those around us.” The St. Peters Rotary Club also conducted a food drive during the month of December to collect for the Powell Terrace Baptist Food Pantry in St. Charles. Rotary members were encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and grocery gift cards to club meetings. Over 15 bags of food & gift certificates were collected in this effort. A donation of $500.00 each was given to St. Joachim & Ann Care Services and the O.A.S.I.S. Food Pantry to use how they see fit to help those less fortunate as well. A check presentation was made to St. Joachim & Ann representative Jan Hooker and food delivery presentation to Hollis Moss from the Powell Terrace during the December 15 meeting. “We knew that the number of people needing help during this holiday season was at an all time high,” Pomeroy said. “We hope to make this an annual effort of ours to give back to food pantries in future years.”
